Syracuse's Michael Carter-Williams has earned the StatSheet Big East Player of the Week for the week ending December 10th. JaKarr Sampson from St. John's has won StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week. Finally, DePaul's Worrel Clahar takes home StatSheet's Big East 6th Man of the Week.

Carter-Williams finished first in the Big East in assists (12.33 per game). He also registered 4.3 rebounds per game, 13.7 points per game, and 3.7 steals per game. The Syracuse sophomore played well for the Orange in victories versus Eastern Michigan, Long Beach State, and Monmouth.

Carter-Williams topped all rebounding for the Orange with 7 while also adding 11 assists in a big 84-48 win over Eastern Michigan. He followed that up with 15 points and 10 assists in a huge 84-53 win over Long Beach State. Finally, Carter-Williams racked up 16 assists and 5 steals, closing out the week with a blowout 108-56 win over Monmouth.

This is the first time this season that Michael Carter-Williams has been selected StatSheet Big East Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is junior Vander Blue from Marquette. Honorable mention goes to Marquette senior Junior Cadougan. Shabazz Napier, who finished seventh, was the highest ranking player from Connecticut.

StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week: St. John's's JaKarr Sampson

JaKarr Sampson played an average of 36 minutes as a starter for St. John's. His average in scoring (19.0 pts per game) topped all Big East freshmen. In an 81-65 loss to San Francisco, Sampson led all scoring for the Red Storm with 22 points on 58% shooting. Then in a 58-47 win against Fordham, he led scoring with 16 points and rebounding with 10.

This marks the first time this season that JaKarr Sampson has won the StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Josh Fortune from Providence. Steven Adams from Pittsburgh receives honorable mention.

StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week: DePaul's Worrel Clahar

Senior Worrel Clahar, a 5-11 reserve guard, averaged 27 minutes over two games for the Blue Demons. In a 74-64 win against Chicago State, Clahar got 11 points and 9 rebounds. Then in a strong 84-50 win over Milwaukee, he led all rebounding with 8 and added 10 assists.

This is the first StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week award for Worrel Clahar. Davante Gardner, a junior forward from Marquette, is runner up. Kevin Ware, a sophomore guard from Louisville, receives honorable mention. Connecticut has yet to win the StatSheet Big East Player of the Week award this season.
